Villa Tortuga is perfectly located for those looking for a central position to explore the many charms of the Bodrum Peninsula, with the setting framed by farmland, and a quiet natural view onto a small olive grove and the hills beyond. Boasting a private keyhole pool, beach volleyball, croquet lawn, badminton and half basket ball court, you will feel no desire to leave the villa. If you do however decide to explore, you are just a couple of minutes from the local golf course, a short drive to the beach, and ten minutes from Bodrum where you can discover historic sites and choose from the many fine bars and restaurants. Walking though the front door your eyes will be drawn up to the high ceilings and central overhanging balcony of the villa (3000ft2/300m2).

Downstairs is an open plan kitchen, dining and living area, decorated in an understated modern style. The kitchen is well stocked for the 'chef' owner and offers an accompanying breakfast bar.

At the front of the villa, the large patio has a separate screened dining area, including the BBQ for grilling a real Turkish feast!

Downstairs there is the fourth bedroom with its adjacent full bath. Upstairs there are three bedrooms, all with ensuite bathrooms, as well as a separate laundry room. The master bedroom has an inviting balcony and a walk-through wardrobe to access the modern bathroom, with a skylight, including two sinks, a bath and a shower.

You will be spoiled for choice when it comes to activities, starting with the keyhole pool which has in-pool seating, massage jets, and poolside pergola to escape the mid day sun. A few steps from the pool is a beach volleyball court (aka 'kids' beach) and a large grass lawn where you can play football or enjoy a leisurely game of croquet at sunset. At the rear of the villa is an organic vegetable garden, as well as the badminton and half basketball court.

History:

Located in the village of Ortakent (Turkish: middle town), Villa Tortuga is centrally located on the Bodrum peninsula in the southwest corner of Turkey, making it a perfect base from which to explore the region. The peninsula is made up of many small villages, beaches, yacht harbours and historical sites, which means there is no end of places to explore within a short drive.

Ancient Halicarnassus, renamed Bodrum, is a vibrant, cosmopolitan town and has a wide selection of things to see and do. There are many sites of archaeological interest in the town, from the Roman amphitheater, to the remains of one of the Seven Wonders of the World - the Mausoleum of Mausellos. The seafront area is divided into two bays by the Castle of St Peter which was built by the Knights of St John, and contains an excellent museum of marine archeology. An hour's ferry ride away, and you can be in the Greek islands, exploring Kos and beyond. On the seafront you will find traditional Turkish Gullets, along with a wide variety of bars and restaurants. The shopping in Bodrum Center is found in the small narrow streets of the old town where designer shops sit alongside traditional Turkish shops.

Day trips outside Bodrum include the must see - Ephesus, one of the largest archaeological sites in the world. Next to Ephesus is also St John's Church and the house in which the Virgin Mary lived her later years. There are also close by, the pools of Pamukkale, the royal rock tombs at Dalyan, the temple of Apollo at Didim, along with many others off the beaten path.

A half mile walk down our road is a Golf "Academy Course" - a driving range, 5 holes at par 3, and clubhouse bar & restaurant.
